With most energy providers, one can make use of an innovative solution for storing solar energy, namely through a virtual battery without an actual physical battery. Below, we explain how this works.
A Virtual Battery does not physically store your generated energy. Instead, your excess energy is fed back into the electricity grid. Essentially, the grid acts as your battery. The amount you earn from feeding your generated solar energy back to the grid is credited to your “virtual wallet” in your account. You can then use this credit to offset your future electricity bills.

The energy generated by the solar panels is used to meet the energy needs of the house
If at any point surpluses are produced, they are fed back into the electricity grid
The energy fed into the grid is compensated in euros and stored in the virtual battery. The price at which the surpluses are settled is the price agreed upon when signing the contract, and it can be either a fixed price or a market price.
The money collected in the virtual wallet is used to discount your next energy bill, which can be as low as €0
