No, SolarCircle only uses SMA string inverters. Micro-inverters are extra components that can make a solar power system more prone to faults. Additionally, they are exposed to harsher external conditions, such as high temperatures directly under the panels. If they fail, they are harder to reach and replace.
String inverters, on the other hand, are a reliable and efficient option. We use inverters from SMA. SMA is the global leader in high-quality inverters known for their reliability and quality.
There are several warranties for the different components of a solar power system. Here’s an overview: Installation Warranty SolarCircle will repair system defects free of charge within 10 years. This covers the installation from the meter cabinet to the solar panels. Communication between the inverter and the internet, due to reliance on third parties like the Internet Service Provider (ISP), is excluded. Defects caused by natural disasters or third-party damage are also excluded. The installation warranty becomes void if modifications are made by another party after installation. Product and Performance Warranties Each component has its own product warranty, usually longer than the installation warranty, typically covered by the manufacturer. Solar Panel Warranties Panels often come with both a product warranty and a separate performance warranty. The product warranty covers repair or replacement within the warranty period if a defect is found. Solar Panel Performance Warranties The performance warranty warrants that the panel’s power output doesn’t degrade faster than expected. All panels degrade over their lifespan, usually about 0.6% per year. If they degrade faster, you are entitled to compensation under the performance warranty. However, proving faster degradation often requires specialised equipment. If the degradation is due to a defect, it falls under the product warranty. This can make a significant difference: if your product warranty is 10 years and the performance warranty is 25 years, and a panel loses power after 12 years due to a broken cell, you wouldn’t be compensated under the performance warranty if the product warranty has expired.

Communication Products Products used for communication between the inverter and the internet typically have a 2-year warranty. This includes Powerline Adapters, SMA WebBox, or Cluster Controller. The Sunny Home Manager also has a 2-year factory warranty. Find the terms for SMA products here. Cabling and Electrical Components Warranties for these items are generally shorter than SolarCircle’s installation warranty. SolarCircle will replace and repair any defective parts within the installation warranty period at no cost. Bankruptcy What happens with the warranties if the installer or manufacturer of the products goes bankrupt? If SolarCircle goes bankrupt, the installation warranty is voided but product warranties from other manufacturers still apply. If a manufacturer of our products goes bankrupt, SolarCircle will not be able to obtain a replacement product and will attempt to provide alternative products to keep your system running. The Best Warranty is Quality Private consumers in the Netherlands are well-protected. Visit the government’s ConsuWijzer website for details. For business-to-business customers, different rules apply. Ultimately, the best warranty is one you never need to use—a quality product is the best guarantee you can have.
Yes. You will purchase much less electricity from your supplier, lowering your energy bill. However, you will maintain your connection to the electricity grid and a contract with an energy supplier for the remaining electricity you need, thus retaining the fixed items of your energy bill. So you’ll still pay network costs to the grid operator and fixed charges to the energy supplier, but you’ll receive a government discount.
Yes. The government discount is usually higher than your fixed costs (network costs and fixed charges). If your solar panels almost completely eliminate your need to buy electricity from your supplier, you may end up with a negative energy bill, meaning you’ll get money back.
No. Solar panels don’t affect the fixed charge, which is an administrative fee charged by your supplier. Because you’ll use less electricity from your supplier, it’s advisable to choose one with a low fixed charge.
Solar panels generate electricity whenever there’s sufficient daylight. When you use electricity, it comes directly from the panels. During times of low or no usage, the excess solar power is fed back into the grid. You can offset this fed-back power against the electricity you buy from your supplier. This is called net metering.
Suppose you use 3500 kWh per year. Your solar panels generate 2500 kWh this year. You directly use 1500 kWh and feed the remaining 1000 kWh into the grid. You buy 2000 kWh from your supplier. The 1000 kWh fed into the grid is deducted from your purchase, so your supplier only bills you for 1000 kWh.
